This pineapple ginger wellness drink goes a long way, with its utter body warmth to that soothing gut feeling. An ounce sure does pack a punch. It may not be flu season, but this right here is giving all sorts of good vibes. The tropical delight you’ll always want to have around.
WHATS IN A SHOT
FRESH GINGER: My mom thinks fresh ginger cures all tummy ache. And I must say she’s definitely on to something. Ginger has been used as a digestive aid for stomach discomforts such as bloating and nausea. It also has some anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce inflammation in the body.
FRESH PINEAPPLE: Pineapples are a great source of Vitamin C. With immune boosting properties that supports a healthy immune system which may help fight infections. Just like ginger, they also have some anti-inflammatory properties.
FRESH LEMON: There is a reason lemon makes it on almost every detox drink. It is a natural detoxifier and helps in getting rid of toxins from our body. It also brings a great balance to the sweetness of the pineapple and spiciness of the ginger.
PREPARING THE INGREDIENTS AND JUICING
PINEAPPLE: Thoroughly was and peel the tough skin. Then cut the crown. You can reserve the skin and core for this refreshing hibiscus tea. Then cut into small chunks so it’s easy to blend.
GINGER: To peel use a skin to scrape the thin outer layer, then rinse and cut into small chunks.
LEMON: Peel whole lemon, ensuring the white pith is removed because this will add bitterness to your drink. Then cut into small chunks.
You’ll need a highspeed blender and a cheesecloth. A little water is optional to ease blending but if you’re wanting a concentrate like we have here, avoid any water.
Start with the pineapples which are softer and will make blending easier. Then add in lemon chunks and lastly ginger. Blend until you have a thick smoothie.
To strain the blended mixture, transfer into a cheesecloth over a bowl. Then squeeze out the juice, discarding the pulp. You can also dehydrate the pulp to make teas and other recipes!
PASTURIZE YOUR JUICE
Homemade juices are best consumed within a day or two but if you want to store them for longer is best to pasteurize. For homemade juices I use the High Temperature Short Time Method. Heating up to 161 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 seconds. You can then add in your raw honey which is optional at this point.
SERVING YOUR PINEAPPLE GINGER WELLNESS DRINK
This pineapple ginger wellness drink is best enjoyed chilled for at least an hour. This is a concentrate, so a little goes a long way. You can enjoy a shot when needed or dilute with ice and enjoy.
