Pineapple Watermelon Homemade Juice
Who is down for some pineapple watermelon homemade juice? Summer love! We all have our summer thing, mine is homemade juices. With this Tennessee scorching summer, we are also blessed with some amazing summer fruits and vegetables. So its customary to find fresh juices in the refrigerator. These come in handy for smoothies, cocktails and some homemade kombucha. My husband does the brewing. Beer and Kombucha. Its not unusual to find him adding a cup of his favorite home brew into a pot of chili. He makes one mean chili I tell ya. So yes, fresh juice, no extra sugar added is my summer thing.
Today we are using some pineapples and watermelon. You decide what proportions depending on which of these you fancy more. We are going with a 40 / 60 ratio. Forty percent pineapple chunks and sixty percent watermelon. When I make these, I make a small batch which stay fresh for 2 days in the fridge. Today we are making a bigger batch. I have eight bottles sitting in the fridge. Knowing this will take a little more time to consume I decided to pasteurize at home. After blending everything in a food processor, using Elliesbest bigger better nut milk bag, most of the pulp is removed.
Pasteurizing involved heating up to 70 degrees, stirring and keeping it at this temperature for about 1-2 minutes. Transfer juice into clean sterilized bottles that have been pre heated. This helps the juice last longer but if you open your bottle and it smells funky, its obviously not good for consumption. I still don’t go over 5 days for my home made juice.
Drink up and stay hydrated with this amazing pineapple watermelon homemade juice. Affordable and you get to control the sweetness. Let us know what else from the Afrovitalityeats kitchen you’re enjoying.
