This high protein oatmeal smoothie will graciously carry you throughout the early parts of your day. You’ll be tempted to feel guilty as to how good it tastes, but don’t be. It is just that good. Taste like dessert for breakfast with all the protein you need to make it a meal.

INGREDIENTS USED FOR HIGH PROTEIN SMOOTHIES

  • Rolled Oats: Introducing whole oats brings along all the fiber and unfiltered nutrients to this smoothie.
  • Almond milk: Low in calories, dairy free and vegan friendly and also absolutely delicious in this smoothie. Make sure you go with unsweetened. There are lots of more fun ways to sweeten smoothies than adding refined sugars. You can substitute with oat milk or soymilk. Look for unsweetened or make your own. If you prefer dairy but also lactose intolerant, look for lactose free milks.
  • Medjool dates. This favorite natural sweetener is also rich in fiber and essential nutrients. Packed with antioxidants and can help improve digestive health. Sweeten to taste as they have a high sugar content. Just one goes a long way. Another option if to use some raw honey. Bananas are also an option but will also change the flavor profile.
  • Hemp Hearts (Hemp seeds): A great plant-based protein source also rich in omega-3 and omega-6. High in fiber and essential nutrients. This is definitely a great addition for gut and heart health.
  • Cacao Powder: Your energy boost without the jitteriness of caffeine. An antioxidant powerhouse that makes this smoothie rich with flavor and decadence. Make sure you go for high quality, unsweetened cacao powder. Hot cocoa mix is not what we are going for here.

BLENDING YOUR HIGH PROTEIN OATMEAL SMOOTHIE

We always start with our liquid base when making smoothie in a blender. This avoids the ” cake clump” and eases blending. Your dry ingredients are less likely to stick to the bottom. If you have a good quality high speed blender this may not matter but it’s a good smoothie making tip that helps us.
