refreshing sorrell drink

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Quarts of water
  • 4 cups dried hibiscus tes (sorrel)
  • 1 large pineapple
  • 10 cloves
  • 4 star Anise
  • 1 medium cinammon stick

Instructions
 

  • Thoroughly wash pineapple. Peel and transfer into a large pot. Crush half of the pineapple and add into pot.
  • Add 4 quarts of water and bring to a rapid boil. Add in dried hibiscus tea, cloves anise and cinnamon. Boil for an 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 6- 8 hours.
  • Strain with a colander to remove pineapple skin and big chunks, Use a small mesh sieve and strain two more times. To sweeten, prepare simple syrup by mixing 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water. Let dissolve over low to medium heat. Use to sweeten tea to taste.
  • Best served after refrigeration or on ice. Can also be enjoyed warm.
